Torenpad Overijssel

The Torenpad Overijssel is a long-distance walking route connecting more than fifty churches and religious sites throughout the province of Overijssel. By combining heritage, landscape, walking, and storytelling, the project explores new ways for religious buildings to remain meaningful in contemporary society.

The route invites visitors to rediscover churches as places of history, reflection, architecture, and community. At the same time, it encourages church owners and local communities to rethink accessibility, hospitality, and the role these buildings can continue to play in the future.

The Torenpad demonstrates how religious heritage can contribute to identity, tourism, placemaking, and social connection — not as isolated monuments, but as active parts of the landscape and society.
